Miss Congeniality 2013
Kari Hanson, a junior advertising & public relations major from Bemidji, Minnesota, had the opportunity this summer to do a little bit of personal public relations. Kari competed in the Miss International Contest in Chicago. Diagnosed with a form of Muscular Dystrophy as a child, Kari chose the Muscular Dystrophy Association as her platform for the pageant. She spent the weekend networking with other contestants and judges, all the while raising awareness for MDA. Although she did not walk away with a crown, Kari left Chicago with a huge smile after winning Miss Congeniality, an award given to the contestant with the brightest personality.
“It was an amazing to learn about all the other contestants, where they were from, and what their platforms were.”
Kari has returned to campus this fall to serve as vice president of AD/PR Club and will serve once again as a member of Drury’s AD Team at the AAF District 9 competition in April. This year’s National Student Advertising Competition sponsor is Mary Kay, Inc.
