Interim Office Manager at PBS NewsHour
Liz Jones loves learning. After majoring in Speech Communication and earning a minor in Women and Gender Studies, Liz set her sights on earning a graduate degree. The application process led her to Syracuse University’s SI Newhouse School of Public Communication where she recently completed a master’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism.
The highlight of her graduate school experience came in July when she landed her dream internship with PBS NewsHour in Washington, DC. In this position, Liz produced and edited a news package for an all-girls firefighting camp, wrote blog posts for the NewsHour Extra site, contributed to the program’s social media sites, and wrote news stories for the web. Her outstanding performance on the internship led to her current position as Interim Office Manager for the nightly news program. She’s proud to be working for such a highly regarded news organization.
“I owe the Department of Communication a big “thank you” for our capstone class. Everything I learned not only helped get me into Syracuse University, it helped me get this internship and job.”
Did you take the graduate school plunge? If so, we would love to hear your story.
